At the meeting of the board of the State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports, held under the chairmanship of Edil Baisalov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, the results of the work for 2025 were summarized.
Members of the board, heads of regional departments of physical culture and sports, as well as representatives of the National Olympic Committee participated in this event.
Baisalov noted that the creation of a specialized agency has significantly improved the concentration of resources and management in the sports sector. “The state provides constant support to sports, and funding increases every year. In 2020, about 800 million soms were allocated for these purposes, and in 2025 this amount increased to almost 2.6 billion soms. This underscores the trust of the state in the sports sector and our responsibility to athletes,” he added.
He emphasized the implementation of the National Development Program of the Kyrgyz Republic until 2030.
“According to this program, our main task is to expand mass participation in physical culture and sports, modernize infrastructure, prepare an Olympic reserve, and develop mass sports, including the opening of sports sections in schools. Special attention will be paid to supporting women's sports,” the Deputy Chairman emphasized.
He also noted the importance of preparing for the XXXIV Summer Olympic Games and the XVIII Summer Paralympic Games, which will be held in Los Angeles.
“The Olympic Games represent the highest level in sports. We need to analyze shortcomings in advance and ensure quality preparation for our athletes,” added Edil Baisalov.
In addition, instructions were given to expedite the launch of the state enterprise "Kyrgyz Center for Sports Medicine," enhance security at mass competitions, and activate the digitalization of services in sports. The Kyrgyz State Academy of Physical Culture and Sports was recommended to review its activities and improve the training of specialists in new sports.
In 2026, a number of significant international tournaments are planned to be held in the country, including the Asian Wrestling Championship, the Central Asian Sailing Championship on Lake Issyk-Kul, as well as the next World Nomad Games.
Following the meeting, relevant structures were instructed to accelerate the development of a comprehensive program for the development of physical culture and sports until 2030.
