The State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports has presented a draft resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers concerning the approval of the Program for the Development of Physical Culture and Sports in Kyrgyzstan until 2030.

The main goal of this document is to ensure the success of Kyrgyz athletes in international competitions and to stimulate physical activity among citizens. The program was created in the context of implementing the National Development Program of the country until 2030.

Key Areas of Change

Development of Mass Sports. It is planned to implement a three-tiered competition system at the district, regional, and national levels, as well as to support sports clubs established at schools and enterprises. Additionally, inclusive infrastructure for people with disabilities will be developed.

Digitalization of the Sports Sector. Within the framework of the program, an electronic system will be introduced to account for athletes' achievements, digital passporting of sports facilities, and the creation of online platforms. This system will be integrated with the "Tündük" portal. Funding for digitalization is provided for in the Concept of Digital Transformation of the Kyrgyz Republic for 2024-2028.

Support for New Sports. The program emphasizes the development of non-Olympic and national sports, including esports. Special attention will be given to preparations for the World Nomad Games, which will take place in 2026.

Medical Support. Branches of sports medicine centers will be opened in each region. There are also plans to modernize the existing Sports Medicine Center by changing its organizational and legal form, expanding its functions, and increasing staff numbers.

Center for Youth National Teams Preparation. Within the framework of the program, a single institution will be created to unify the work of coaches, children's and youth sports schools, and national teams. Currently, such a structure does not exist in the country, leading to insufficient coordination in the preparation of sports reserves.

Furthermore, the program includes the professional development of coaches and specialists, as well as the implementation of a retraining system. The government will also make separate decisions regarding the amounts of rewards for athletes, increasing salaries for coaches, and the sizes of scholarships. Funding for these activities will be discussed when preparing the relevant decisions.

Implementing the program will not require additional expenditures from the republican budget, as expenses will be covered by the current budgets of the State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports, other government bodies, and local self-governments, as well as through public-private partnerships, donor, and sponsorship funds.
