The discussion took place during a meeting between Tashkent Mayor Shavkat Umurzakov and Ulaanbaatar Mayor and Governor Nyambaatar Khishgee at the administration of Uzbekistan's capital.
During his visit, Nyambaatar also familiarized himself with the work of the Situational Center in Tashkent, where he was shown the center's capabilities for monitoring urban processes, ensuring public safety, and responding to emergencies using modern digital technologies.
As a result of the meeting, the parties confirmed their interest in further deepening interregional cooperation, enhancing the exchange of experience, and implementing joint initiatives aimed at the sustainable development of capitals and improving the quality of life for their residents.
Uzbekistan and Mongolia continue to strengthen their strategic partnership, moving from the basic diplomatic relations established in 1992 to broader cooperation in the economy, transport, and culture. Important events include high-level visits and the signing of agreements in areas such as mining, agriculture, and logistics, as well as the introduction of a visa-free regime. Key areas of cooperation include strengthening political ties with the opening of the Mongolian embassy in Tashkent and economic initiatives aimed at stimulating trade and developing transport infrastructure.
Furthermore, bilateral trade between Uzbekistan and Mongolia has significantly increased, growing more than 10.5 times from 2019 to 2024—from $1.9 million to $20.4 million—highlighting the strengthening economic ties between the two countries.
