The Kyrgyz Republic has approved the "Green Energy" strategy aimed at achieving complete energy independence and carbon neutrality. This is reflected in the country's development program until 2030.

As part of the new strategy, the authorities intend to significantly change the structure of the energy system. The main goal is to increase the share of renewable energy sources in the total generation to 92 percent. It is expected that the annual electricity generation using renewable energy sources will increase to 7.5 billion kilowatt-hours.

Environmental Aspects and Strategic Goals

The program includes ambitious tasks for modernizing the energy infrastructure. Specialists aim to reduce electricity losses to 10 percent during transmission.

Climate issues will play an important role in this strategy: the republic plans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 16 percent through domestic resources and by 44 percent with international support. The reserve of guaranteed capacity in the system will range from 550 to 700 megawatts.

Capacity Expansion and Implementation of New Technologies

In response to the electricity shortage, the government is launching large-scale construction projects.

Increasing Energy Efficiency and Digitalization

The reform will also affect the consumption sector. A "net metering" system will be implemented in the country, allowing households to sell excess solar energy back to the grid.

The introduction of differentiated tariffs based on the time of day will help shift the load to less busy hours for both businesses and citizens.

Industrial enterprises will undergo energy audits, and the construction sector will transition to new thermal insulation standards.

Digitalization of energy networks through the implementation of intelligent management systems and "smart" meters will ensure transparency in accounting and prompt response to emergency situations.

Regional Leadership and Investments

Kyrgyzstan aims not only to meet domestic needs but also to export clean energy. As part of this strategy, a regional energy resources market will be created, and new interstate power transmission lines will be built.

The government plans to achieve self-sufficiency of the energy system by 2030, actively attracting "green" investments and developing public-private partnerships.
