Sadyr Japarov met with the president of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank

President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov held a meeting with Zou Jiayi, the head of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank. During the discussions, the parties examined the prospects for joint work on large-scale projects related to the country's industrialization, improvement of transport and logistics connections, and enhancement of Kyrgyzstan's transit potential. Attention was also drawn to supporting key initiatives in the fields of agriculture and energy.

The head of the Kyrgyz state emphasized that industrialization is a key direction for increasing the country's competitiveness on the international stage. He noted that the development of high value-added sectors, as well as modernization and processing in industry, are extremely important, inviting the AIIB to actively cooperate in this area.

In addition, Sadyr Japarov highlighted the necessity of developing transport infrastructure and logistics, pointing out the strategic goal of making Kyrgyzstan a regional hub. The implementation of infrastructure projects in this area, he said, could significantly enhance the country's competitiveness and create new opportunities for economic growth.

The president also identified solving the problem of electricity shortages as a priority task. He spoke about plans to increase generation, modernize energy infrastructure, and improve energy efficiency. These large projects hold particular strategic significance for Kyrgyzstan.

Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of investments in road infrastructure, which should enhance transport accessibility and develop regions, inviting the AIIB to continue expanding partnerships on key projects.

Zou Jiayi, for her part, noted that Kyrgyzstan is regarded by the AIIB as one of its most important strategic partners, emphasizing that the republic is a founding member of the Bank. She expressed high appreciation for the economic policies being implemented in the country and the stable dynamics of socio-economic development.

The head of the AIIB confirmed the Bank's intention to continue financing current projects and support new initiatives that align with Kyrgyzstan's priorities. Key aspects of cooperation were identified as infrastructure development, transport and logistics connections, expansion of trade and investments, as well as support for the private sector.

Particular attention was given to the project for the construction of the Kambar-Ata HPP-1. Zou Jiayi emphasized its significance for the country's energy security and expressed the AIIB's readiness to consider financing options. She also mentioned the Bank's willingness to explore support options for the railway project from China through Kyrgyzstan to Uzbekistan, awaiting specific proposals from the Kyrgyz side for further work.

In conclusion, she noted that the AIIB will continue to consider financial mechanisms and instruments to facilitate the development of Kyrgyzstan and the implementation of its priority projects.
