Bolot Sagynaev, a deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh, proposed the creation of separate student dormitories for men and women. He made this statement during a committee meeting that addresses issues related to science, education, culture, and youth policy.

In his speech, the deputy pointed out alarming statistics: in 2025, there were 45,000 registered marriages in Kyrgyzstan, of which 13,000 were later dissolved. This indicates that nearly one in three couples gets divorced, which he believes is a serious problem.

“This is a real tragedy. I suggest we consider building student dormitories so that girls and boys can live separately from each other. Currently, the cost of renting housing in Bishkek is 40,000-50,000 soms, which is an unbearable burden for students. These dormitories should serve as a form of social housing, separating students by gender. This could help reduce negative phenomena related to marriage,” the deputy noted.

Bolot Sagynaev voiced this idea to the Deputy Minister of Culture, Information, and Youth Policy Marat Tagaev during a discussion on supporting and developing youth policy in the country.
