Kanibek Tumanbaev, the head of the president's office, visited the State Center for Vehicle Registration and Driver Licensing, where the process of replacing licenses is taking place.
He explained the necessity of transitioning to new samples of driver's licenses.
“The old licenses are not digitized and are not accepted in a number of neighboring countries, which creates problems when using the document abroad. Therefore, for those who plan to use their licenses outside of Kyrgyzstan, transitioning to new samples is an important measure for legalization and compliance with modern international standards,” Tumanbaev emphasized.
Moreover, the old indefinite licenses contain insufficient security features. These may include outdated photographs, which complicate identity verification and create risks of their use by third parties. The new licenses have improved security characteristics, which helps prevent such cases and simplifies the work of road safety officials.
Kanibek Tumanbaev also urged citizens to follow the established procedure for applications to avoid long waiting times:
- Citizens whose licenses are not digitized and do not appear in the "Tündük" system must personally appear for document replacement;
- Citizens whose data is in the "Tündük" system are recommended to apply for replacement online, without visiting the center.
Currently, the option to replace driver's licenses through the "Tunduk" portal is unavailable.
