Kazakhstanis are being mass deprived of driver's licenses

In Kazakhstan, there is a tightening of control over the health status of drivers: the authorities have begun to revoke driver's licenses from those who, for medical reasons, should not be driving. This process affects many citizens and has sparked active discussions among drivers, reports Lada.kz.

Mass Inspection and License Revocation

According to the Ministry of Health, more than 1,700 driver's licenses have been revoked in the country due to medical contraindications.

To identify such cases, the ministry, in cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, conducted a large-scale data comparison and inspection of citizens on dispensary registration. A total of about 370,000 people were checked.

Inspection Results

The analysis showed unexpected results:

273,800 of those checked had never had a driver's license;

96,000 people had previously obtained licenses:

41,700 licenses had already been revoked;

54,400 licenses remained valid despite the presence of medical contraindications.

Thus, some drivers continued to operate vehicles without legal grounds due to their health conditions.

Judicial Response

As of December 10, 2025, the judicial authorities registered 4,540 lawsuits from government structures. As a result of the hearings:

1,787 licenses were officially revoked;

These citizens were deemed incapable of driving due to medical reasons, making their actions illegal.

The Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Internal Affairs noted that such measures are aimed at improving road safety and reducing the risks of traffic accidents among people with health limitations.

Important for Citizens of Kazakhstan

The revocation of a driver's license can occur even after it has been issued if medical contraindications are identified.

Everyone who is on dispensary registration is required to undergo regular medical examinations to keep their license valid.

Ignoring the prohibition on driving can lead to administrative or criminal liability.

Experts emphasize that transparency and regular checks of databases are key steps to ensure that only those drivers who are physically and mentally capable of safely operating vehicles are behind the wheel.
