The agreement with the EAEU opens up a market for Mongolian agricultural exports covering 180 million consumers

As a result of the agreement, an increase in the supply of meat and meat products, hides, wool, cashmere, and textiles is expected. This will also provide access to a large market with a population of 180 million people, which will positively impact livestock, crop production, and the light industry of Mongolia, as well as help diversify exports that are not dependent on the mining sector.

The Ministry of Economy and Development is working on creating a roadmap that will define joint actions with EAEU member states for the effective implementation of the agreement and maximizing its benefits. This roadmap includes measures to achieve mutual agreements on quarantine requirements, animal and plant health protection, as well as the recognition of laboratory research results, which will simplify the export process.

To support the implementation of the temporary trade agreement between Mongolia and the EAEU, the Ministry of Economy and Development held an informational and consultative meeting for participants in the meat processing industry. At the meeting, the Secretary of State of the Ministry of Economy and Development, Batkhüü Idësh, the Executive Director of the Mongolian Meat Producers Association, Batsuuri Nantsag, and other representatives of exporting companies discussed the current state, challenges, and prospects of the industry.

The event was attended by representatives from various government structures, including the Ministry of Food, Agriculture, and Light Industry, the Main Customs Administration, the Main Veterinary Service Administration, and the Agency for Standardization and Metrology. Participants met to discuss opportunities and key aspects of exporting meat and meat products to the EAEU market.

Regarding the ratification of the agreement, out of the five EAEU member states, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Belarus, and the Republic of Kazakhstan have already completed this process, while Kyrgyzstan and the Republic of Armenia have submitted the agreement for consideration to their parliaments.
