The Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic has announced the start of a health month for men under the slogan "Be Responsible!" in February. This project is aimed at identifying factors contributing to non-communicable diseases in men over 18 years old.

As part of the initiative, it is recommended to visit primary healthcare institutions such as family medicine centers, general practitioner practices, family doctor groups, and feldsher-obstetric points for preventive medical consultations.

According to the Ministry of Health, the results of a similar campaign last year were impressive: over 973,000 men underwent preventive screening across the country. Elevated blood pressure was recorded in 119,600 (12%) of them, and 49,600 (5%) were found to be at high risk for cardiovascular diseases. Additionally, about 60,800 men (6%) are at risk of developing diabetes.

In 2025, 15,388 people were registered with a diagnosis of "hypertension" and 7,364 people with "diabetes." It was also reported that cardiovascular diseases were the cause of 16,644 deaths among adults in Kyrgyzstan in 2025.

The first "Be Responsible!" month was implemented in 2019 as part of the program "Effective Management and Prevention of Non-Communicable Diseases in Kyrgyzstan," which is funded by the Swiss government. Since then, this campaign has been held annually under the auspices of the Ministry of Health of the KR.

The department emphasizes that non-communicable diseases include chronic illnesses such as cardiovascular and oncological diseases, chronic respiratory diseases, and diabetes. The main preventable risk factors are poor nutrition, smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, and insufficient physical activity.
