Political scientist Bakyt Baketaev addressed 75 public figures of Kyrgyzstan, asking them to openly explain their position regarding the proposal for early elections. He emphasized the importance of ensuring political stability and the resilience of the state.
“With deep respect for your experience and contributions to the country, I must say that haste in matters of state stability is a luxury that Kyrgyzstan cannot afford at this time,” he noted.
In Baketaev's opinion, when Kyrgyzstan began to confidently move along the path of reforms and was mentioned as the "new Asian tiger," the initiative for early elections seems at least inappropriate.
Many of those who signed the petition now acknowledge that their decision was made under the influence of emotions or due to a misunderstanding of the legal aspects.
The people demand not just justifications, but an honest and dignified explanation. Among the signatories are respected elders, academics, and politicians who have dedicated years to serving their country, which raises the expectations of society towards them to an even higher level.
If the initiative was motivated by concern for the future of the country, a logical question arises: why was it not supported by experienced lawyers and generals like Felix Kulov, who, moreover, spoke against it? This question is actively discussed in society.
It is especially important now to maintain calm and composure. Investigative bodies will sort out the details, and state institutions continue to function. The president will set everything in order.
In conditions of geopolitical instability, any thoughtless action can lead to serious consequences. Kyrgyzstan needs constructive efforts, consistency, and resilience now, not chaos.
The elders have always been the moral support of the people. Society expects a new, measured address that will uphold stability and the fundamental principles of the constitutional order.
Wisdom is the foundation of state building.
“Why are they silent: do they agree or not? The people are waiting for their opinion, or are they ready to stand their ground until the end?” Baketaev asks.
Recall that earlier, 75 well-known public figures and former politicians appealed to the president with a call for early presidential elections. Explanatory talks were held with them in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and some of them were detained.
