
The President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdymukhamedov, is a welcome guest in Brussels, and both sides are awaiting the coordination of the date for his visit. This was stated by the European Union Ambassador in Ashgabat, Beata Pexa, at a briefing held on February 17 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
According to her, the EU has already decided to hold high-level meetings, including negotiations with the Presidents of the European Commission, the European Council, the European Parliament, and the European Commissioners.
“President Serdar Berdymukhamedov is more than a welcome guest in Brussels for meetings with the Presidents of the Commission, Council, Parliament, and with the Commissioners. The decision has been made; everyone is just waiting for the date to be coordinated,” she said.
The ambassador noted that the agenda for the upcoming visit will be broad and will cover political consultations, energy security issues, education, and youth cooperation. Currently, the main issue remains choosing a suitable date considering the busy work schedule of the European leadership.
The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Myakhri Byashimova, confirmed that negotiations on the timing of the visit are ongoing. According to her, a package of documents is planned to be prepared for signing by the time of the meeting.
“When the dates and timelines are set, we will certainly inform you additionally,” she added.
The briefing on cooperation between Turkmenistan and the European Union took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan on February 17. During the event, the results of cooperation for 2025 were summarized, and key priorities for partnership for 2026 were identified. Representatives of the foreign policy agency of Turkmenistan, diplomatic missions accredited in the country, EU institutions, and the media participated in the event.
