In Australia, pancakes recognized as a weapon of attack

In Australia, a verdict has been delivered against a woman who attacked a minister with a pancake. The incident occurred in the fall of 2023 when 56-year-old realtor Susanna Lee Milgate assaulted Natasha Fyles, who was then acting as the Chief Minister of the Northern Territory, reports 1 News.

During the attack, Milgate struck Fyles with a rolled pancake that was in a cardboard holder, leaving bruises on the Chief Minister's face. The woman explained her actions as a protest against the strict quarantine measures that had been implemented earlier. She told the court that in January 2020, her husband suffered a stroke and needed surgery but was unable to obtain an exemption from vaccination.

Following the incident, Milgate's realtor license was revoked. During the court proceedings, she represented herself. The judges concluded that the pancake thrown at the face was used as a weapon of attack and classified the woman's actions as a deliberate crime.

As a result, Susanna Lee Milgate was sentenced to one year of probation. Later, she expressed her intention to appeal the court's decision, as it may complicate her return to her realtor license.
