The court proceedings concluded with a verdict for an 82-year-old man found guilty of sexual violence against his seven-year-old great-granddaughter. This information was published on her Facebook page by Dina Smailova, head of the "NeMolchi" foundation.
The incident occurred in the family home during the celebration of the girl's birthday, when all relatives had gathered. The family caught the great-grandfather in the act. Evidence of the incident is corroborated by both witness testimonies and the results of forensic examinations.
The court found the man guilty under Article 121 (Part 4) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which pertains to "Violent sexual acts," and sentenced him to 20 years in prison.
According to Smailova, the mother of the victim contacted the foundation on the night of April 5 to 6, 2025, immediately after the incident, when she was taking her daughter for a medical examination.
The human rights activist also noted that there were calls within the family to drop the case due to the age of the accused.
“This grandfather was quite cunning; he realized that he had committed a crime. When he was caught in the act, he tried to escape and hid his tracks for almost a day before being apprehended by the police,” added Smailova.
