Ministers of Health of Kyrgyzstan and Russia Discussed Quotas for Treatment, Training of Personnel, and Projects in the Field of High-Tech Medicine

On February 10, in Moscow, the Minister of Health of Kyrgyzstan, Kanibek Dosmambetov, met with his Russian counterpart, Mikhail Murashko. This information was provided by the press service of the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan.

The Kyrgyz side expressed gratitude to their Russian partners for their support in organizing the negotiations. The Ministry of Health emphasized that cooperation between the two countries is of strategic importance and is based on many years of trustful relations and stable dialogue.

During the meeting, key areas of interaction that concern the interests of citizens of both countries were discussed.

One of the main issues was the continuation of quotas for the treatment of Kyrgyz citizens in Russian medical institutions, including high-tech assistance, which underscores the openness of the Russian side regarding medical care.

The parties also discussed the development of human resources and strengthening professional ties. In particular, they considered opportunities for young specialists from Kyrgyzstan, who graduated from medical universities, to undergo training in residency programs in Russia in in-demand specialties such as neurosurgery, oncology, cardiac surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, anesthesiology and resuscitation, neonatology, pediatrics, genetics, and laboratory diagnostics.

Initiatives for organizing internships and advanced training for Kyrgyz doctors at leading medical and scientific centers in Russia were also discussed. The Kyrgyz side noted that the relevant departments of the ministry are working on proposals for internship directions in accordance with the assignments.

In the context of high-tech medicine, the Kyrgyz Republic expressed interest in joint projects, including the establishment of a nuclear medicine center with cyclotron-radiopharmaceutical production. It was clarified that some elements of this project are already being implemented at the National Center for Oncology and Hematology with the assistance of JSC "Rosatom".

The establishment of this center is planned in the state development plans of the country. A phased preparation of the regulatory framework, the conclusion of contracts, and the start of design work in 2026, with completion by 2030, are anticipated. The parties also discussed cooperation formats, including expert assistance and access to technological resources, taking into account mutual interests.

Furthermore, issues of experience exchange between medical professionals of the two countries were discussed, including conducting joint surgical operations and other high-tech interventions, as well as expanding scientific and expert cooperation.

The Kyrgyz side expressed interest in studying and gradually implementing the best practices of the Russian Federation in the field of healthcare, with an emphasis on national characteristics, including reforming the system, managing medical institutions, and improving the quality of medical services.
