In the KR, cancer patients are hospitalized for free during a repeat operation within a year - FOMS

The Mandatory Health Insurance Fund (MHIF) reported that patients suffering from oncological diseases are entitled to free hospitalization if a repeat surgery is necessary within one year after the initial intervention. This rule applies to all cases where planned surgical intervention is required.

The MHIF clarified that in such situations, there is no co-payment for inpatient treatment, just as with the first hospitalization.

It is also important to note that during inpatient treatment, it is prohibited to demand additional payments for:

“Furthermore, the medical organization is obliged to provide the patient with essential medicines (EML). If there is a shortage of medications, this can be checked against the list that is posted daily in an accessible location in the department, and the patient has the right to purchase the medications independently. These requirements are outlined in the State Guarantees Program,” the MHIF added.
