In the video that spread on January 13, a large number of parents with children can be seen waiting for admission at the clinical diagnostic department of the Osh Interregional Children's Clinical Hospital (OMDKB).
According to information provided by the Ministry of Health, similar situations occur more frequently after weekends and holidays, when there is a sharp increase in the number of patients seeking outpatient care and specialist consultations. The director of OMDKB, Zhyrgalbek Tolorov, reported that on January 13, about 600 outpatient visits were recorded, and the day before, on January 12, around 800 children passed through the clinical diagnostic department.
The Ministry of Health noted that the hospital has the necessary infrastructure for scheduled admissions: there are 18 doctor's offices, three registrars, two cash desks, and two terminals. Usually, queues arise in the morning hours when obtaining tickets, but by 11:00 AM, the flow of patients is distributed, and queues generally decrease.
Additionally, the ministry pointed out the problem that many parents go directly to the hospital without going through the local doctors at the Family Medicine Centers and without referrals. OMDKB is a tertiary level institution, and its clinical diagnostic department is not intended for primary visits without proper routing.
Besides the clinical diagnostic department, specialized services are actively working in the hospital: the trauma center, ENT department, surgery, intensive care, emergency medical care, and outpatient care, which helps to distribute patients more effectively by profile.
The Ministry of Health assured that despite the high workload, assistance to children is provided in full - all patients receive consultations and necessary medical care. Parents are advised to follow the routing and consult local pediatricians at the Family Medicine Centers to avoid queues and receive referrals in a timely manner if needed.
