Kazakhstan offered Kyrgyzstan access to major retail chains in China

Access to the Chinese market provides new opportunities for the economy of Kyrgyzstan

The presentation of the acceleration program by the National Association of Cooperatives and other economic communities of Kazakhstan (NACOFEC) took place at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic.

According to the Chamber of Commerce, this organization, which actively develops export corridors in Kazakhstan, shared its opportunities in Bishkek for the first time, offering Kyrgyz entrepreneurs access to one of the largest retail chains in China — China Co-op.

The event was attended by representatives of the Chamber of Commerce, the Center for Development and Promotion of Exports "Kyrgyz Export" under the Ministry of Economy and Commerce, as well as agribusinessmen and entrepreneurs focused on exports.

The key outcome of the meeting was the announcement of the launch of mechanisms in Kyrgyzstan that were tested within the framework of the strategic partnership between NACOFEC and the All-China Federation of Supply and Marketing Cooperatives (ACFSMC). This will allow producers of organic products from Kyrgyzstan to occupy spaces on specialized shelves of the network, which covers 341,000 retail outlets across China.

Avazbek Kerimbaev, Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce, noted that entering the Chinese market opens new horizons for the domestic economy.

"The Chinese market is becoming increasingly attractive, and Kyrgyzstan has every chance to carve out its niche. Our Kazakh colleagues, who have significant experience in exporting to China, are ready to share their knowledge and assist in establishing laboratories in the Kyrgyz Republic. Establishing supplies to China will be an important stimulus for the growth of Kyrgyzstan's economy," he emphasized.

Kazybek Shaikh, President of NACOFEC, stressed the importance of regional integration.

"We brought to Kyrgyzstan a proven export technology. Kazakhstan's experience shows that uniting small and medium producers into sustainable export chains is the key to success in the vast Chinese market. Kyrgyzstan's products are environmentally friendly, and our goal is to provide them with a 'green corridor', from certification to the shelves of China Co-op. This is the first, but crucial step towards creating a unified organic brand for Central Asia," Shaikh stated.

Meeting participants agreed that applying proven Kazakh methodologies will help Kyrgyz businesses shorten their path to the Chinese market and avoid common mistakes in the export process.

At the end of the event, a memorandum of cooperation was signed aimed at promoting Kyrgyz producers in international markets and developing cooperative, production, marketing, and financial infrastructure in the country.
