In Bishkek, law enforcement officials detained a group of fraudsters who deceived citizens by posing as employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

According to the agency, at the beginning of 2026, a citizen named K.A. approached them, complaining about a scam that resulted in him losing his money.

The criminals, pretending to be law enforcement officers, promised to assist in the "solving of a criminal case" and demanded $10,000 for their services. However, after failing to fulfill their part of the promise, they refused to return the money.

In connection with this incident, a criminal case was initiated under Article 209 ("Fraud") of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.

As a result of operational work, law enforcement detained two suspects: S.A. (born in 1998) and S.M. (born in 1976). Later, the identity of a third participant was established, who turned out to be A.A. (born in 1982).

It was revealed that A.A. already had a criminal record and is currently in custody at the GKNB detention center on another fraud case.

The investigation is ongoing, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs is checking for possible connections between the detainees and other similar crimes.
