This year, the flu started earlier and is spreading more intensively. This is associated with the simultaneous presence of strains of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and influenza A virus (H3N2), which creates additional risks.
In order to reduce the number of severe cases of illness and complications, vaccination of high-risk groups of the population was launched in the country starting from September 12. For this purpose, 300,000 doses of vaccine produced in the Republic of Korea were used.
The vaccine contains two strains of influenza A virus and two strains of influenza B. Authorities emphasize that a higher vaccination rate, exceeding by 20-40% the data of the previous three years, has contributed to curbing the peaks of morbidity and reducing the number of complications during the outbreak.
