Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russia, starting from February 24, 2022, and until January 13, 2026, research data confirms that at least 163,606 Russian soldiers have died. This information was made public by journalists from the Russian service of the BBC and the publication "Mediazona" with the help of volunteers, based on data from open sources, and was conveyed to Deutsche Welle.

The largest number of fatalities consists of 15,997 servicemen aged 36-38, followed by those aged 33-35, with a death toll of 15,673. However, it is important to note that this list is not exhaustive, as information about the deaths of all servicemen is not available in public sources.

According to data from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) as of December 12, 2025, the estimated losses of the Russian army since the beginning of the conflict amount to 1,186,480 people, killed and wounded.

Last week, the war unleashed by Russia against Ukraine on the night of February 24, 2022, reached a duration comparable to the Great Patriotic War. January 11 marked the 1,418th day of armed aggression initiated by the order of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
