Erlan Kokulov: The Ministry of Culture is making money from tobacco and alcohol advertising in films

"Is it only my responsibility to care about the health of the citizens of Kyrgyzstan?"

At a meeting of the parliamentary committee on science, education, innovation, and culture, Deputy Erlan Kokulov expressed his intention to file a lawsuit against the Ministry of Culture of Kyrgyzstan. The reason was the issue of tobacco and alcohol advertising in film productions.

Kokulov noted that cigarette advertising is becoming increasingly blatant. "For example, they talk about a double capsule. I raised this issue three years ago, but no action has been taken. Should I go to court? Am I the only one concerned about the health of the nation? The law prohibits advertising tobacco and alcohol in films, yet we continue to see this. I am sure that the Ministry of Culture is making money from this. We can do without films funded by tobacco companies," he added.
