Adenov noted that this decision was made taking into account the experience of previous events. An excessive number of weight categories creates organizational difficulties and negatively impacts the dynamics of the competitions.
“Spectators may become bored if competitions in one sport drag on all day. Athletes also get tired. At the same time, participants can compete in several wrestling disciplines, which should also be considered,” he explained.
According to him, the organizers decided to keep only those weight categories that generate the most interest among spectators and ensure a balance between different disciplines.
Another important aspect is ensuring equality and international balance.
“If we focus only on Kyrgyz sports, it may lead to a loss of interest in the project. Other countries may stop participating if they see a lack of fairness. We are discussing all these issues in advance with international federations, and they support our position,” added Nursultan Adenov.
The head of the secretariat emphasized that the reduction of weight categories is aimed at increasing the spectacle of the games, maintaining sports competition, and attracting the interest of international participants to the World Nomad Games.
