As part of the project "Development of the Information Technology Sector," a meeting was held organized by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in collaboration with the National Information Technology Park (NITP).
Key figures from NITP attended the event, including Zolzayaa Jargalsaihan, the project leader, as well as representatives from the consulting firm "Deloitte Tomatsu": Yamamoto Shosei, the deputy project leader, and advisor Hagiharu Natsuki.
The main objective of this project is to support the development of information technology in Mongolia, improve the legislative framework, and ensure sustainable growth in the sector. The official launch of the project took place in 2026, following the signing of a memorandum of understanding between ICDC, JICA, and NITP in June 2025, with project documentation completed in September.
According to a study conducted by JICA, comprehensive support for the ecosystem is required to achieve sustainable development of Mongolia's IT sector. The project, which will be implemented over three years, aims to achieve the following five goals:
📌 Improving the quality of law and policy implementation that promotes the development of the IT sector.
📌 Increasing opportunities for Mongolian IT companies in international markets.
📌 Strengthening partnerships between the public and private sectors, as well as improving coordination.
📌 Supporting startups through the implementation of national and regional acceleration programs.
📌 Developing businesses using open data, big data, and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies.
This project plays a key role in enhancing the level of the information and communication technology (ICT) sector in Mongolia, as well as achieving tangible results in international cooperation, aiming to create an international benchmark in the field of ICT.
