The Ministry of Culture intends to officially assess the resonant statements
At a meeting of the committee responsible for science, education, innovation, information technology, culture, sports, and youth affairs, deputy Gulsharkan Kultaev demanded that the Ministry of Culture provide a legal assessment of the statements made by Syimyk Japykeev regarding the famous writer Chyngyz Aitmatov.
Kultaev noted that Japykeev appeared in an interview on a popular channel with about 200,000 subscribers and expressed his opinion about the writer. The deputy emphasized that Aitmatov is a symbol of the country's culture and his name is known not only in Kyrgyzstan but also beyond its borders.
"The Ministry of Culture must protect our cultural heritage. We cannot remain on the sidelines when such statements are made. A legal and judicial assessment is necessary," the deputy stated.
In response, Deputy Minister of Culture Marat Tagaev noted that Chyngyz Aitmatov does not require protection. However, he added that the ministry is preparing an official statement regarding this situation.
Kultaev insists that the ministry's response should be formalized in an official and legal format.
