Salyjan Kylychbekov, a holder of the international scholarship "El ümutu," shared his experience of studying at Oxford on the air of Birinchi Radio, which became possible thanks to this program.
The initiator of the presidential scholarship "El ümutu" is the country's president, Sadyr Japarov. In 2022, he proposed establishing a fund that would support gifted young people by providing them the opportunity to study at the best universities in the world at the expense of the state budget.
Salyjan noted that thanks to the scholarship, he was able to attend Oxford.
“To be admitted to prestigious educational institutions like Oxford, not only language proficiency is required, but also other important factors — deep knowledge and talent in various fields. For example, applicants from other countries often have serious support from their families and the state. Many of them grow up in academic families and understand from an early age how complex things, such as rockets, function,” he explained.
As of today, Salyjan's main goal is to create a startup and contribute to the development of Kyrgyzstan's technological ecosystem. He observes that the youth of the country are actively interested in sports, which is a positive factor. At the same time, he believes it is necessary to develop the youth's interest in startups, the economy, and technology, as these areas open up enormous opportunities and can contribute to the country's economic growth.
