Sergey Lebedev, the Secretary General of the CIS, shared with the public information that in 2026, a milestone year for the Commonwealth, the priority will be the further development of multilateral cooperation among the member states. Secretary General of the CIS Sergey Lebedev According to Lebedev, among the main tasks for the coming years is the implementation of the concept of connecting key transport routes, which will create an integrated system that facilitates cost reduction and increases the transit potential of the Commonwealth countries. Work is also planned on a strategy for the development of the fuel and energy complex, aimed at 2035 with foresight up to 2050.
He noted that one of the goals is to transition to a new level of foreign economic interaction and to transform the CIS into an effective platform for dialogue with such associations as the EAEU, SCO, BRICS, and OES.
