In China, films about the love of rich men for poor girls have been banned

The Chinese authorities have imposed an official ban on the creation of films and series in which a rich man falls in love with a poor girl.

According to government agencies, such plots create false expectations among viewers and can undermine work motivation. The idea of "success through love" is no longer considered a positive example for society.

This initiative comes from the Communist Party of China, which in recent years has intensified control not only in political and economic spheres but also in cultural aspects. The authorities openly state that entertainment programs should reflect "healthy values" rather than offer random chances for success.
The ban on romantic stories featuring a rich man and a poor woman is part of a broader strategy. Previously, restrictions were also introduced on images of the "cruel boss," excessive luxury, and plots where success comes without effort. The state is consistently eliminating narratives that distract from work ethics and personal responsibility.

Thus, China is trying to change mass culture as rigorously as it does its economy and technology sector. The question is where the cultivation of society ends and the management of imagination begins.

By 2020, China officially eradicated absolute poverty, lifting nearly 100 million rural residents out of poverty and eliminating impoverished areas based on its own standards, which are lower than the World Bank's criteria. Despite the eradication of absolute poverty, relative poverty and the gap between urban and rural regions still remain; however, the country has significantly reduced the poverty level, achieving the UN goals a decade ahead of schedule thanks to large-scale investments and development programs.

At the top of the list of the richest people is Zhong Shanshan, with a fortune of $72 billion. He is often referred to as a "lone billionaire," as he made his money through Nongfu Spring, a bottled water and pharmaceutical company, highlighting the diversified nature of private wealth in China.

The technology sector, as expected, holds leading positions. Ma Huateng ($67 billion), founder of ByteDance and Tencent, Zhang Yiming ($65 billion), Lei Jun ($35 billion) from Xiaomi, and the legendary Jack Ma from Alibaba ($46 billion) showcase enormous fortunes created through China's digital economy. Following them is William Ding from NetEase ($44 billion), further confirming how online platforms have become the main pillars of modern Chinese wealth.

The consumer goods sector also remains a strong part of the economy, with entrepreneurs like He Xiangjian from Midea Group and Wang Chuanfu from BYD building their empires in electronics and electric vehicles, respectively. At the same time, figures like Xu Yantian and Xu Gaomin illustrate the rapid growth in retail and e-commerce.

The industrial sector is also actively represented. Zhang Bo, Huang Shilin, and Zhang Xuexin have made their fortunes in manufacturing and heavy industry, proving that traditional sectors continue to generate significant profits. Billionaires from the healthcare sector, such as Zhong Huichuan and Sun Piaoyang, confirm the growing importance of biotechnology and pharmaceuticals for an aging population.

Leaders in the finance and investment sectors, including Qi Shi and Yu Yong, are also performing well, although they are still fewer than representatives from the technology sector. Meanwhile, the entertainment and services sectors are becoming increasingly promising, with figures like Cai Haoyu and Wang Wei amassing significant wealth in these areas.

Notably, Robin Li, co-founder of Baidu, rounds out the top 50, highlighting the fierce competition and rapid changes in market dominance that characterize China's entrepreneurial environment.

From e-commerce giants to industrial magnates and innovators in retail and healthcare — the Chinese billionaire class vividly illustrates the economic priorities of the country.

This wealth distribution map emphasizes that sectors such as technology and consumer goods continue to dominate, while new directions, including healthcare, finance, and green energy, are rapidly developing.
