Starting in 2026, Uzbekistan will begin training 500,000 specialists as part of the ambitious project "Five Million Leaders in Artificial Intelligence," which will last until 2035. As part of this project, an annual competition will be held with prizes for the best students, schools, and teachers, including cash awards of $1,000, laptops, and electric cars.

The procedure for implementing this project was approved by a Cabinet of Ministers resolution on December 31. It is worth noting that the initiative was launched in December in collaboration with the United Arab Emirates, and its opening was attended by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the UAE Minister of State for Government Affairs, Muhammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi.

This project is a continuation of the previous initiative "One Million Programmers." In 2026, it is planned to train 500,000 people, and by 2035, the total number of trained individuals will reach 5 million.

Each year, a national competition will be held as part of the program for participants who achieve high results. The following awards are provided in this competition:

100 teachers will receive cash prizes of $1,000;

10 teachers will win trips abroad;

500 students will receive laptops;

500 young people will be awarded valuable gifts;

3 higher education institutions will receive cash prizes;

2 general education schools will be honored with a "presidential gift" in the form of an electric car.

A special commission has been established to coordinate the project, which will monitor the implementation of the initiative on the ground, set regional targets, and make decisions regarding awards. The commission includes seven representatives, including the Minister of Digital Technologies, as well as Deputy Ministers of Education and the Chairperson of the IT Education Association.

The "Heirs of Muhammad al-Khwarizmi" project will also be implemented in Karakalpakstan and regional centers. It includes:

free courses in modern professions (such as project management in IT and startup management) and foreign languages;

training for obtaining international IT certificates;

participation in competitions in computer science, robotics, esports, and other fields.
