The bill published in the electronic database of the State Duma proposes to shorten the period for migrants to undergo medical examinations from 90 to 30 days after entering the country. This was reported by "Kommersant".

The initiators are a group of deputies led by the Vice-Speaker of the State Duma Irina Yarovaya and the leaders of the Duma factions. The proposed changes concern the Law "On the Legal Status of Foreign Citizens in the Russian Federation." According to the new rules, migrants will be required to undergo examinations to detect dangerous infections, HIV, and drug dependence. It is also planned that such examinations will be conducted annually, provided that the migrant stays in Russia for more than 30 days. The cost of medical services will be borne by the migrants themselves.

In the event of detecting an infectious disease, HIV, or drug dependence, the information will be transmitted to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Rospotrebnadzor, which will make a decision on the deportation of the foreigner.

Migrants who evade medical examinations may also be expelled from Russia. The bill proposes to increase fines for refusing the procedure to 25,000-50,000 rubles, which is 12 times higher than the current amounts. Those using fake medical examination certificates face imprisonment for up to four years and fines ranging from 500,000 to 1 million rubles.
